css_params=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"40\" data-end=\"217\">1954 \u2013 On December 24, the District Methodological Library was opened with a collection of 6,788 volumes and separate departments: \u201cMethodical\u201d, \u201cProcessing\u201d, and \u201cCirculation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"219\" data-end=\"331\">1955 \u2013 It received the status of a depository library, sharing deposits with the National Army Library in Sofia.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"333\" data-end=\"382\">1955 \u2013 First steps in interlibrary loan services.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"384\" data-end=\"435\">1956 \u2013 The first summer reading room was organized.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"437\" data-end=\"498\">1958 \u2013 A reference and bibliographic service was established.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"500\" data-end=\"608\">1959 \u2013 The library was relocated to the building of the District Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"610\" data-end=\"657\">1961 \u2013 A children\u2019s department was established.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"659\" data-end=\"705\">1962 \u2013 Open access for readers was introduced.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"707\" data-end=\"812\">1962 \u2013 First publications in the local newspaper \u201cOtetchestven Zov\u201d about library bibliographic editions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"814\" data-end=\"892\">1963 \u2013 The reference and general reading rooms were moved to two new premises.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"894\" data-end=\"1010\">1963 \u2013 A collection development and bibliographic advisory council was created with specialists from various fields.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1012\" data-end=\"1103\">1964 \u2013 A district library council on a voluntary basis was established as an advisory body.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1105\" data-end=\"1231\">1965 \u2013 By Order No. 464 of May 30 of the District National Council in Vratsa, the library was officially named \u201cHristo Botev\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1233\" data-end=\"1342\">1965 \u2013 Coordination of local history (kraevedenie) activities began with libraries in Vidin and Mihaylovgrad.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1344\" data-end=\"1398\">1966 \u2013 The \u201cLocal History\u201d department was established.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1400\" data-end=\"1491\">1968 \u2013 Acquisition of scientific-technical literature and foreign-language materials began.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1562\">1969 \u2013 Separate circulation logs were introduced for all departments.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1564\" data-end=\"1676\">1969 \u2013 Coordination of bibliographic and reference work among general education libraries in the district began.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1678\" data-end=\"1722\">1970 \u2013 The \u201cArt\u201d department was established.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1724\" data-end=\"1797\">1978 \u2013 On May 11, the first celebration of Librarian\u2019s Day was organized.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1799\" data-end=\"1895\">1979 \u2013 A district bibliographic supply center was established for centralized book distribution.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1897\" data-end=\"2029\">1979 \u2013 The methodological department was transformed into a district \u201cLibraries\u201d directorate under the District Council for Culture.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2031\" data-end=\"2106\">1979 \u2013 The first plenary meeting on librarianship in the district was held.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2108\" data-end=\"2188\">1979 \u2013 The Children\u2019s Department was moved to the newly built Palace of Culture.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2190\" data-end=\"2325\">1979 \u2013 By State Council Decree No. 1933, the library was awarded the Order \u201cCyril and Methodius\u201d, 2nd degree, for its 25th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2327\" data-end=\"2399\">1980 \u2013 A branch library was opened in the \u201cDabnika\u201d residential complex.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2401\" data-end=\"2473\">1988 \u2013 The library received the new name \u201cUniversal Scientific Library\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2475\" data-end=\"2565\">1993 \u2013 Reclassification of the collection in preparation for relocation to a new building.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2567\" data-end=\"2701\">1994 \u2013 The library was moved to the former House of Political Education and officially opened on November 1 (Day of the Enlighteners).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2703\" data-end=\"2768\">1995 \u2013 First project for an automated library information system.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2770\" data-end=\"2904\">1995 \u2013 First computer \u201cLeo\u201d, printer, and modules of the library system \u201cLibrary\u201d were acquired;
