In partnership with Dolj County – the lead partner, the “Alexandru and Aristia Aman” County Library in the city of Craiova, the Vratsa Regional Administration, and the Regional Library “Hristo Botev” – Vratsa, Romanian-Bulgarian cultural and information centres have been established in the cities of Vratsa and Craiova. In these centres, citizens from both border regions can freely use communication tools such as IP telephony, Internet access, and video conferencing. In this way, the two communities can learn about each other’s way of life and culture, explore opportunities for tourism and business, and discuss and resolve shared issues.
Under the project “Cross-border Centre for Information and Communication Dolj – Vratsa”, implemented within the Romania–Bulgaria Cross-border Cooperation Programme, a joint web portal was created: iportal.libvratsa between the two largest public libraries in the border regions of Vratsa and Dolj, providing free access for the people of Bulgaria and Romania to the valuable digital collections of both libraries.
